Background
• 2nd on-shore wind farm built in Ilocos Norte
• Commissioned on 09 November 2014
• Completed in 2015
• Largest wind power project in the Southeast Asia
• Located within a 600 hectare site across 3 barangays (Saoit, Poblacion,
and Nagsurot)
• 1st phase: 29 turbines and additional infrastructure
• Facility consists of 50 wind turbines with a capacity of 3M, respectively
• Generates electricity to the Luzon grid
• Project included a substation and a 43 km long 115 kV transmission
line
• Feed-in tariff scheme
Current Capacity
• Generates approximately 370GWh of electricity a year
• Offsets approximately 200,000t of CO₂ emissions
annually
• Five million safe man-hours without incident.00t of
CO₂ emissions annually.
Developer and Financing Cost
• Developer: EDC Burgos Wind Power Corporation (EBWPC)
• Contractor: Vestas Wind Systems
• Sub-contractor: First Balfour
• Construction Costs: US450 Million
• $315m debt financing was secured which will expire in 15
years.
• ADB: secured $20m term loan to EDC in November 2015
