On December 31,
New Year's Eve is celebrated, a very old
holiday among the English that date back to
ancient Babylon.
FOOD:
• We have eaten roast turkey, accompanied by peas, cranberry sauce,
roast potatoes, brussel sprouts and other vegetables.
• The dessert was Christmas pudding.
• We tried the mulled wine, one of the typical drinks apart from
champagne.

MUSIC:
• We had to sing Auld Lang Syne, the typical New Year's song.

CLOTHING:
• The temperature was low, and we wore jeans, jackets, hats,
gloves, and closed shoes like tennis shoes or boots.
TRADITIONS:

• People met at "The London Eye" to listen to the chimes of "Big Ben" and watch the fireworks.
• All the English at home opened the doors and windows before midnight to say goodbye to the new
year.
• As the clock struck 12:00, party poppers were thrown and champagne bottles opened to celebrate.
• The first person who entered the house had to be a dark and handsome man with an offering that
symbolized good wishes for the coming year, this tradition is called "Firts Jogging“
• The bars and clubs opened to continue the New Year's celebration until dawn
• On the first of January, the great New Year's parade was held.
