WHAT ARE ADVERBS?


• It is a part of speech that modifies a verb,
adjective, or another adverb.
• They can either modify or change the meaning
of the word.
• A great way to identify adverbs is to spot
words ending in ‘-ly’.
• However, there are many adverbs that do not
end in ‘-ly’.

• She ran quickly across the hallway. (verb)
• I was delightfully surprised by your visit!

• The movie ended abruptly. (verb)
• She looked extremely beautiful. (adjective)
• The bullet trains move very fast. (adverb)
