VIRAT KOHLI.

Virat Kohli is an Indian international cricketer and former captain of the

India national cricket team. A spunky, chubby teenager with gelled hair
shot to fame after leading India to glory in the Under-19 World Cup at
Kuala Lumpur in early 2008. In an Indian team filled with saint-like
icons worthy of their own hagiographies, Virat Kohli, with his most un-
Indian, 'bad-boy' intensity, would clearly be an outcast.
Kohli stood-in as the captain for the first ODI of the triangular series in the West Indies. after
Dhoni injured himself during the match.
Kohli is a naturally aggressive batsman with strong technical skills. He usually bats at the
no.3 position in ODI cricket. He bats with a slightly open-chested stance and a strong
bottom-hand grip.
Kohli is often compared to Sachin Tendulkar, due to their similar styles of batting, and
sometimes referred to as Tendulkar's "successor". Many former cricketers expect Kohli to
break Tendulkar's batting records. He is ranked as one of the world's most famous athletes
by ESPN.
As of December 2021 Kohli has made 70 centuries and 7 double centuries in international
cricket—27 centuries, 7 double centuries in Test cricket and 43 centuries in One Day
Internationals (ODIs)
Virat Kohli is the leading run scorer in T20I with the most 50 plus scores. He is the only
cricketer to have been awarded player of the tournament twice in the T20 World Cup. He
scored 319 runs with 4 fifties in T20 World Cup 2014 and was the leading run scorer in the
tournament.
2013 – Arjuna Award
2017 – Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award.
2018 – Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, India's highest sporting honour.
