ADOLESCENCE is the transition period between
childhood and adulthood.

ADOLESCENT LITERATURE is generally described as


books written for an audience of 12 – 20 years old.
Characteristics of Adolescent
Literature
1. Authors write from the viewpoint of young people.

2. In many adolescent novels the


parents or other authority figures are
absent.
3. The literature is fast-paced.

4. It is always have to be didactic and


teach a lesson or have redeeming
social qualities that have a positive
theme.
5. Adolescent literature involves a
variety of genres and subjects.
