TIPS TO WRITING A SUMMARY

 1.Read the passage on your own(for at least three times)to understand the main
idea.
 2.Highlight /underline the key points in the passage.
 3.Use your own words when writing a summary.
 4.Summary is the essence of a given text.
 5.Use ¼ of the words in writing the summary.Use simple present or simple past.
 6.Leave all examples,dates,figures,repetitions or more details in writing.
 7.Do not include your point of view in a summary;be objective.
 8.Remember that a summary should be in the form of a paragraph.
 9.Connect the sentences using conjunctions/discourse markers.
