1. LIFE:
Kamala Harris was born on October 20, 1964, in Oakland, California, to a Tamil Indian mother and
a Jamaican father. Her mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris, was a breast cancer scientist who
emigrated to the United States from Madras in 1960. She insisted on giving her daughters Sanskrit
names derived from Hindu mythology to help preserve their cultural identity. His father, Donald
Harris, is a Stanford University economics professor who emigrated from Jamaica in 1961 to
pursue graduate studies in economics at the University of California at Berkeley. Recalling the
lives of his grandmothers, Donald Harris wrote that one was related to a slave plantation owner,
while the other had unknown ancestry. In a 2019 interview, Kamala Harris said, "I'm black and I'm
proud of it."

Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician and attorney. She is the 49th Vice President of
the United States since January 20, 2021 under President Joe Biden, making her the first
woman to hold the position and the highest-ranking elected official in United States history.
Previously, she was a junior senator from California from 2017 to 2021. Prior to her election
to the Senate, she served as California attorney general from 2011 to 2017.

Kamala Harris is the current Vice President of the United States. After winning, along with Joe Biden, the
November 2020 elections, she became the first woman vice president and the first black and Asian American
person to hold the position in the entire history of the North American country.
early career
in 1990 she was admitted to the California Bar Association and in 1998 Became managing attorney of the
Criminal Career Unit in the San Francisco District Attorney's Office,Two years later she became chief of the
Division of Communities and Neighborhoods, during which time she established the state's first Office of
Child Justice.
SAN FRANCISCO DISTRICT ATTORNEY:
In 2003, Kamala Harris became San Francisco District Attorney. His achievements during his tenure were
numerous, most notably the launch of the "Back on Track" initiative that reduced recidivism by offering job
training and other educational programs for low-level offenders.
CALIFORNIA ATTORNEY GENERAL:
in November 2010 she was appointed attorney general of California, becoming the first African-American
woman and the first woman to hold the position.
U.S. SENATOR:
n November 2016, Harris largely defeated Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez for a U.S. Senate seat from California,
thus becoming the second African-American woman and the first South Asian American to enter the Senate.

PRESIDENTIAL CAREER:
On January 21, 2019, he announced that he was running for president in 2020.

JOE BIDEN’S PRESIDENTIAL RUNNING MATE:


On August 11, 2020, presidential candidate Biden announced that he chose his former rival Harris as his running
mate. "I have the great honor to announce that I have chosen Kamala Harris, a fearless fighter for the underprivileged
and one of the best public servants in the country," Biden said.

WINNING THE 2020 ELECTION:


On November 7, 2020, four days after the election, Biden was declared the 46th
president-elect after winning Pennsylvania, making Harris the first female vice president
and the first black and Asian-American person to hold the office.
4.)LEGATE:
Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States, said Tuesday that the entire United States is part of the legacy of
George Floyd.

“We are all part of the legacy of George Floyd. And our job now is to honor that legacy, to honor him," she said in a
White House speech.

The first vice president of the United States considered that there is still much to be done to combat "racial injustice."

Harris noted that the racism that exists in the United States is "preventing" the country from "delivering on its
promise of freedom and justice for all."
