Nearpod
Overview Information
• Nearpod is an interactive website where teachers can upload PowerPoints
or choose from one of the lessons that are on Nearpod that students can
then interact with whether they are in the classroom or virtual.
Different functions
• When getting started you can create an interactive lesson, or you can
upload a PowerPoint you already have.
• Once you are done uploading or making a lesson you can customize it
by adding in polls, open ended questions, quizzes, and many other
options.
More functions
• Live participation- Where the teacher controls the pace of
the lesson, but students work on their own computer either
in person or virtual.
• Student paced- When students are allowed to work at their
own pace outside of the classroom.
• Front of class- When teachers can just put the presentation
up in front of the class and do all the activities together.
Classroom integration ideas
• To use for self-assessments- You can insert a traffic light poll into one you’re your lessons and
see how well the kids understand the topic you are talking about. The traffic light system is to
make it easier to remember for the kids because red means you don’t understand, yellow
means you sort of understand, and green means they understand. Then you can use those
results to see what you need to go over more in class or just to see what they need help with.
• To use as homework- This can be a student paced activity that they can do on a computer at
home where you would provide them with an access code and then they can access the
Nearpod lesson anywhere with internet access.
• Modeling- There is a feature called draw it where students devices display an interactive
whiteboard that they can use. If they are learning about math and graphing the teacher can
display a graph on the student's screens and then they can learn how to graph from there
device by doing it on their own.
More integration ideas
• Interactive games with the whole class- This will add
interest and excitement into the lesson because kids
love games, and this will give them the opportunity to
play a game while learning something.
• Student assessments- You can do live quizzes or open-
ended responses to see the students' responses in real
time. By doing this the teacher can then gain
information of the classes' overall understanding and
adjust to those needs.
