Catalyst Contamination

 The Catalyst is constructed of ceramic material


– Extremely porous structure
– Fuel, Engine Oil, & Coolant cause contamination
– Contamination causes a reduction in catalyst efficiency
 Inspect Catalyst Following Engine Issues/Failures
– Turbocharger (Possible oil or coolant loss)
– Power Cylinder (Possible oil contamination)
– Valve Seal (Possible oil contamination)
 Contaminated Catalyst Assembly
– Must be replaced. No effective cleaning option exists

Doser & Tank Contamination

 If fuel is added to the DEF tank the Doser will be


damaged
 The Dosers internal seals & pumping mechanism are
not compatible with Diesel fuel
 Cannot be flushed/cleaned successfully
 Doser must be replaced

water, dirt, or other contaminants in the fuel,
catalytic reagent, or oil.
