Particle theory is used by scientists to explain the
properties of solids, liquids, and gases (states of matter).
 Solids
The particles in solids are arranged in regular rows with
the particles touching each other.
 Liquids
The particles in liquids are arranged with the particles
touching each other but not in pattern of rows.
 Gases
The particles in gases do not touching each other.
