• is a word that defines action – an
action word.
• it will tell what the subject of a
sentence is doing or what will
happen.
Example:
“Terry ran upstairs.”

 TERRY - is the subject

 RAN – tells what Terry did
Example:
“Katie eats lunch.”

 KATIE - is the subject

 EATS – tells what Katie is doing
Example:

“James throws the ball and laughs

while playing with his friends.”
