Business Function
 Similar to EBS operating units, Fusion business units will be
centrally defined and customers will be able to enable one or
more “business functions” such as Payables, Purchasing,
Project Financials, Supplier Invoicing, Order Management etc
for a business unit.
 Customer will Define Business Function for BU Implements

• Business Unit with Project Financials Business Function Enabled becomes

Operating Units

Project Management Partition:
By Project Unit (Functionally similar to Enterprise)
 To support the project management partition, we will introduce the
concept of Project Unit.
 Project Units will be implemented as an organization unit with a new
“Project Unit” classification same way as we define Operating Units (ie
Business Units in Fusion).
 Project unit defines rules and options for creating and managing all
aspects of projects, including project definition, cost capture, budgeting
and forecasting, project resource management, issue and change
management, project collaboration etc.
 Customers must setup at least one Project Unit in order to use
functionalities in Projects.
 This proposed Project Unit is functionally similar to the Project Costing
Business Unit supported in Enterprise today.
 In order to support reference data sharing against a project unit, project
unit will be recognized as a “Determinant Type” in the SetID assignment
machinery.

Sample Configuration 1:

Projects as a subledger : They will create a single project unit,

and enable project financials in any financials business units as
appropriate. This is essentially the EBS model

Changes to Implementation
Options
 Implementation Options provide additional attributions to describe
the characteristics and processing options for a business unit and
project unit enabling for Projects.
 In Fusion we will split existing Implementation Options as:
Project Business Units: Implementation Options
 Based on existing PA_IMPLEMENTATIONS_ALL
table with management related attributes moved to a
new table
Project Units: Implementation Options
New table will be introduced to store above
information. This will also contain attributes being
moved out from existing
PA_IMPLEMENTATIONS_ALL table

Associate Project Units to Project
Financials Business Unit
Once the business unit is created and the Project Financials business
function enabled, the user needs to associate the business unit to any
Project Units that are valid for project creation.
