 Help each other to correct one’s mistakes. In
short, wag pagtawanan;
 Read to improve your English. Do that 15
minutes a day reading!
 Read out loud to grow your confidence;
 Make good use of available resources;
 Play it by the ear;
 Lastly, do this repetitively until you are
confident with your written and spoken
language!
1. NOUNS: Words that refer to a person, places or things.
2. It is often preceded by an ARTICLE, which may be definite (the) or
indefinite (a, an)
EXAMPLE/S:

 The osteopath treats diseases of the bones.


 Thelma is a philatelist.
 I took an umbrella as it is beginning to
rain.
 The time for most people has come to
change their attitudes and lifestyles.
 The Filipino people have regained their
respect and trust in their government.
3. PRONOUNS: Words that replaces a noun. There are different kinds of Pronouns:

 Personal Pronouns (I, me, you, he,


she, him, her, it, them)
 Reflexive Pronouns - this are subject
of the verb (myself, yourself, herself,
itself)
 Possessive Pronouns (his, hers, ours)
 Indefinite pronouns (Someone,
anyone, everybody)
 Demonstrative Pronouns (This, That,
Those)
 Relative Pronouns (Who. Whom,
which, whose)
EXAMPLE/S:

 I met her brother in the party and he is richer than you think.
 I will never work with him again, unless he apologizes first.
 Meera blames herself for the mistakes.
 Stop looking at yourself in the mirror.
 She will not ask for anything but your time.
 She believes that God does not exist because she is an atheist.
 The brown leather bag is hers.
4. ADJECTIVES: Words that describes a noun

EXAMPLE/S:

“A preferred destination at the center of


CALABARZON’s eastern growth corridor, with a God-
centered, empowered, and socially responsible citizenry
living in a safe, healthy, sustainably-managed, and
resilient environment having a globally competitive and
progressive economy under an efficient, effective,
responsive, and transparent leadership that builds and
nurtures mutual trust and confidence with our people.”
5. ADVERBS: An adverb is a word that describes an adjective, a verb, or another
adverb. 
EXAMPLE/S:
 She left the room quietly.
 The plot of the story is badly written.
 The actress entertained her audience gregariously.
 She dresses up conservatively.
 We have a globally competitive economy.
 The songs were composed beautifully.
6. PREPOSITIONS:

 Prepositions indicate relationships between other words in a sentence.


 Many prepositions tell you where something is or when something
happened.

EXAMPLE/S:

 There’s no one else behind you.


 Where did you come from?
 I hit the ball over the fence.
7. CONJUNCTIONS

 Conjunctions are words that link other words, phrases, or clauses together.

EXAMPLE/S:

 I met her brother in the party and he is richer than you think.
 I like cooking and eating, but I don’t like washing dishes
afterward. 
 I drank a glass of water because I was thirsty.
