NANOTECHNOLOGY AT

5 DAILY USE PRODUCTS

CATALYTIC CONVERTER
• Change harmful substances in a car´s exhaust gases,
such as carbon moxide , nitric oxide, nitrogen oxide,
into less harmful substances like carbon dioxide and
water vapour thought chemical reactions
• Recent systems it contains nanoparticles of
microporous aluminosilicates minerals (better known
as Zeolites), palladium, rhodium and platinum.
CARBON NANOTUBES AS LUBRICANT
ADDITIVE FOR DIFFERENT BASE
AUTOMOTIVE OIL

• Improve the tribological performance (reduce wear and

friction on drive components through better lubrication)
of the oil
• Multiwall and single wall Carbon nanotubes and even
graphene particles are recently use as an oil additive
POLYMER NANOCOMPOSITES IN THE
AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY
• its application in the automotive sector has become of
great importance for the development of lightweight
components with the purpose of reduce gas emissions
and improve fuel efficiency,  also in the creation of nano
coatings based on nanoparticles that provide protection
and resistance to the vehicle, this from polymeric
nanocomposites due to the fact this type of materials
have excellent thermal and mechanical properties,
which are conferred using agents reinforcements within
a polymeric matrix, the most used are nanoparticles,
carbon nanofibers (CNF), carbon nanotubes (CNT) and
graphene.
NANOMATERIALS AT ENERGY

• Recently several kinds of nanomaterials are being proved

and release for the development of energy storage
systems such as supercapacitors
• Supercapacitor are devices with highly power supply and
higly energy density, which is suitable for heavy duty
energy requirements (inductive systems)
• Carbon based materials like Graphene and CNT´s are
being used in combination of silicon and metallic oxides
such as Ferrous Oxide, ruthenium oxide, nickel oxide,
vanadium oxide and manganese oxide
SILICON NANOPARTICLES IN BIOMEDICINE
AND BIOTECH

• Silicon nanostructures have properties that make them

appealing for applications in biomedicine and
biotechnology.
• Because of its aspects such as physicochemical and
toxicological considerations, regarding biocompatibility,
biodistribution and cell dynamics, nowadays it is suitable
for important biomedical applications, such as gene
therapy, drug delivery, imaging and sensoring.
