The Comparatives
Comparative adjectives are when you compare two things
To form a comparative adjective you must add -er to the
end of the word
Carlos is taller than Fernando.
If a word ends with a consonant followed by -y, we
change it to -i and then add -er
My games are more funnier than yours.
And if the word ends in consonant-vowel-consonant, we
add the last consonant again and then we add -er
Fernando is bigger than Carlos.
After the word with its ending, the word than must go.
But there are exceptions
GOOD = BETTER
BAD = WORSE
LITTLE = LESS
The Superlatives
Superlative adjectives are those that compare one thing with a
group
To form a superlative adjective you just have to add the -est at the
end of the word and put "The" before the beginning of the word
You are the sweetest person I have met.
If a word ends with a consonant followed by -y, we change it to -i
and then add -est
He is the prettiest of the group
And if the word ends in consonant-vowel-consonant, we add the
last consonant again and then we add -est.
This is the hottest drink of all
But there are exceptions
GOOD = THE BEST
BAD = THE WORST
LITTLE = THE LEAST
