TARTUFI
 These rare and highly valued mushrooms, believed to
have aphrodisiac powers, are typical for Istria region.
 They grow underground and only specially trained
dogs can locate them. Though small and unsightly,
they᾽re of superb, distinctive flavor and fragrance.
Traditionally in Istria slivers of white or black truffle
garnish the taste and look of omelettes, pastas and
venison sauces.
RAKIJA
 Rakia is the most popular spirit in Croatia, It's usually homemade
 Travarica (herbal rakia) is usually served at the beginning of the
meal, together with dried figs
 The Croatian Adriatic coast is known for a great variety of herbal
grappas, some typical for only one island or group of islands.
 In the northern Adriatic — mainly Istria — rakia is typically made
of honey (medica) or mistletoe (biska).
 Biska, which is yellow-brown and sweet, is a typical liquor of
Istria.
LAVENDER

 Croatia is one of the largest producers of lavender, which,


due to ideal climate and good soil, mostly grows on hills
and rocky slopes of the mid-Dalmatian island of Hvar.
 Lavender was highly appreciated from olden time for its
healing properties and intoxicating fragrance.
 Etherical lavender oil is produced by distilling lavender
flowers, and it is used for warm baths,
aroma lamps, as massage oil or for
face and body care.
 Lavender also has a culinary use.
HONEY
 Honey is a sweet food made by bees using
nectar from flowers
 Honey also has a long history as a natural
medicine and it is used in cosmetics
 In Croatia most known types of honey are
acacia, sage, chesnut, lavender, rosemary,
forest and polyflora honey
 Honey liqueur from Rakija- a traditional
Croatian liqueur in certain regions also
known as Medenica, Medovača or
Medovica. Honey, apart from its curative
properties, gives this unique liqueur its
recognizable honey-scented flavour.  
PAPRENJAK
 Traditional biscuit made in Croatia
 Rectangular in shape, with a unique Croatian folklore
motifs embossed on the front.
 It has a distinctive flavor of nuts, honey and pepper.
 Croatian people made paprenjak throughout the year, and
more lately it is a family tradition in many homes to make
paprenjak for Christmas
VEGETA
 Vegeta is an all-purpose food seasoning. It contains
several types of dried vegetables in a unique and original
combination of natural vegetables and spices.
 Vegeta adds flavour to dishes and gives them a delicious
taste. It accentuates the flavour of the main ingredients in
all dishes. It enriches the aroma of dishes and can be used
in a variety of ways.

 Kraš is a Croatian food company.
 Bajadera is one of Kraš’s best known brands on the
Croatian market. This exquisite chocolate combines a
Central European confectioner’s art with the oriental
extravagance of flavours. Bajadera is the queen of
chocolates, fine nougat blended with

• Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest national park in
Southeast Europe and the largest national park in
Croatia. The national park was founded in 1949 and is
situated in the mountainous karst area of central Croatia.
In 1979, Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the
UNESCO World Heritage register among the first natural
sites worldwide.

• Currently, 16 lakes can be seen from the surface. The


sixteen lakes are separated into an upper and lower
cluster formed by runoff from the mountains. The lakes
are renowned for their distinctive colors, ranging from
azure to green, grey or blue. The colors change constantly
depending on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the
water and the angle of sunlight.
