TRANSMISSION

OF GOD’S
REVELATION
God is one and only source of all
revelations. He revealed himself
fully through the words and deeds
of his Son Jesus Christ.
God transmit his revelation in two different ways:
1. Sacred Tradition
Tradition comes from the Latin trader means to hand down, to pass on.

Sacred Tradition refers to “handing down” of God’s revealed words from

Apostolic times to the present day.
The Gospel was handed on in two ways:

a. Orally by the Apostles

b. In writing by the Apostles and other men associated with

the Apostles who committed the message of salvation to
writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
2. Sacred Scripture

It is in the speech of God put down in writing

under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture
form one sacred deposit of the word of
God, committed to the Church.
The Church is a guardian and an
authentic interpreter of Sacred Scripture
and Sacred Tradition.
