Percent
- It is derived from the latin word per centum which means,
“hundredths” , “per hundred” or “out of 100”
- It is a ratio whose second term is 100.
- It is a fraction whose denominator is 100.
- It can be changed to a fraction or a decimal
- The symbol used to denote percent is %.

Remember:
Percent which means “per hundred”, maybe expressed as a fraction whose denominator is
100 or as a decimal in the hundredths value.

To convert fraction to percent, rename the fraction so that its denominator becomes 100
and then replace with the % sign.

To convert percent to fraction , remove the % sign , multiply by 100, and express the
fraction in its simplest form.

To convert decimal into percent , move the decimal point two places to the right then put a
% sign. Annex zeros, if necessary.

To convert percent into decimal , remove the % sign, and move decimal point two places to
the left. Annex zeros, if necessary.
