Blood Clotting
The Mechanism :
- When there is an injury, blood will come out of the body.
- Then the platelets will break when they touch the wound surface and
release the thromboplastin.
- Thromboplastin will convert prothrombin in blood plasma to
thrombin. This process is assisted by Ca2+ and vitamin K.
- Thrombin will convert fibrinogen into fibrin.
- Fibrin will form a strand to block blood cells and plasma (to stop
bleeding).
- after the wound is closed, the process of forming new tissue will begin.
Blood Clotting
Blood Types

Dr. Karl classified blood into 4

types, based on the presence of
Agglutinogen and Agglutinin.
Agglutinogen (Antigen) : type of
protein in blood that may agglutinate.
Agglutinin (Antibody) : the
substances that cause the
agglutination.
