INFORMATIONAL

REPORT
INFORMATIONAL REPORT
◦ Informational Reports is to provide information in an organized, objective way, without analysis
or recommendations; in other words, to report the facts. The writer is then expected to
summarize that information. The information provided may stand alone, or it may be used as the
basis for making a decision.
◦ Therefore, the information included should be specific, complete, and relevant.
◦ Some Informational Reports may be prepared following a company's template, which identifies
what needs to be included and in what order. These highly specialized Informational Reports are
generally the easiest type of report to prepare.
◦ Informational reports provide data, facts, feedback, and other types of information without
analysis or recommendations.
Benefits of Informational Report
1. Medium Of Communication
- Their main purpose is to communicate information to people and that is exactly what informational
reports do because they aim to provide facts and details to all their readers. These are passed on from
one person to another; thus, everyone is equipped with first-hand data.

2. Gathers and Organizes Data

- All of this information will be stored in a single place concisely and understandably for the people to
access. It ensures that all data will be organized and designed in a standard format.
3. Accurate and Objective
- Nobody writes their personal opinion or views in an informational report because they are purely based
on facts and accurate information or data which are taken at face value. They are always neutral in their
approach, which is why they do not contain any arguments and remain free from bias. Thus, these
information reports always provide an accurate and objective picture of the subject or topic.

4. Facilitates Decision-Making
- Since information reports provide a full factual picture of the subject or topics they present, it makes it
easy for businesses to keep track of their revenues, expenses, operations, and other activities.

went, who was with you and how you went there.
◦ Field trips provide you with an opportunity to learn issues in the real world, so make the most of

studied. To help with this, look out for any recurring themes.
◦ Conclusions

◦ Notes and diagrams made whilst on the field trip will prove invaluable when you get home and have to
write up the field trip report.
ACCIDENT REPORT
What Does Accident/Incident Report
Mean?
◦ An incident report is a formal document that details the facts related to an incident at the workplace. The
report usually relates to an accident or injury that has occurred on the worksite, but it can also pertain to
any unusual worksite occurrences such as near misses, security lapses, property and equipment damage,
and health and safety issues.
◦ Incident reports should be completed as soon as possible following an incident or injury. The report
might only be used or circulated within the company, but if severe enough, it will need to be sent to
insurers, regulatory bodies, or even the police.
◦ An accident report records the details from example a car accident. Crash records are an important part
of filing a claim with an insurance company. A copy of the report could help decide who is at-fault in the
accident and determine who pays for necessary repairs, property damage, or medical bills.
The Importance of an Incident Report
◦ Analysing these reports can help organizations implement necessary changes,
improvements, and corrective actions to prevent future incidents. An incident
report will help:
• Prevent more serious accidents
• Improve existing health and safety practices
• Save time and resources
• Protect the company from financial losses and bad reputation
• Instil a sense of confidence in the employees
