The Gospel
We stand.
The Homily
We sit.
The Priest speaks to us about the readings.
The Apostles’ Creed (on Sundays. Omitted during weekday masses)
We stand.
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
(at the words that follow, up to and including the Virgin Mary, we bow)
who was conceived by the power
of the Holy Spirit
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is
seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come
again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting. Amen.
Prayer of the Faithful
We sit.
The gifts are brought to the altar.
Preparation of the Bread
The Priest says:
Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation for through your goodness
we have received the bread we offer you;
fruit of the earth and work of human hands,
it will become for us the bread of life.
We say: Blessed be God for ever.
Preparation of the Wine
The Priest says:
Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation for
through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you;
fruit of the vine and work of human hands,
it will become our spiritual drink.
We say: Blessed be God for ever.
Washing of Hands
The Priest washes his hands and says:
Wash me, O Lord, from my iniquity and
cleanse me from my sin.
Prayer Over the Gifts
The Priest says:
Pray, brothers and sisters,
that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the almighty
Father.
We say:
May the Lord accept
the sacrifice at your hands
for the praise and glory of his name,
for our good,
and the good of all his holy Church.
The Priest prays over the gifts.
We say: Amen.
We stand.
The Priest says: The Lord be with you.
We say: And with your spirit.
The Priest says: Lift up your hearts.
We say: We lift them up to the Lord.
The Priest says: Let us give thanks to the Lord our
God.
We say: It is right and just.
The Preface
Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
The Priest says:
The Priest says: The peace of the Lord be with you always.
We say: And with your spirit.
We say: Amen.
Dismissal
The Priest says:
Go in peace.
OR
Go forth, the Mass is ended.
OR
Go and announce the Gospel of the Lord.
OR
Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life.
