1. Future simple with “will”: Functions
A. We use the future simple “will” to talk about a prediction about the future.
Example:
I predict that Argentina will win the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
(I am not a football fan – this prediction is a guess!)

B. We use “will” for decisions made at the moment of speaking.


Example:
Oh, sorry, I dropped all the soup. Don’t worry, I’ll clean it.

C. The future simple is used to ask someone for help.


Example:
Will you help me carry my bags?

D. We also use it after the verbs THINK, PROMISE and BE SURE.


Example:
I promise, my dog won’t pee in your garden again

2. Be going to: Functions
A. We use “be going to” for future plans and intentions.
Examples:
Tonight, I am going to read a book.
After lunch, he is going to call Mr. Brown.
My sister is going to have a baby in September.

B. We also use the “be going to” for predictions based on present evidence, when
we can se that something is going to happen.
Examples:
Those clouds are so dark, I think it’s going to rain soon.
I’m worried about this crack on the wall, this is going to be a problem.
David missed the bus. He is going to be late.
