Intellectual Revolution
Intellectual Revolution is used to refer to Greek as
speculation about the “nature”.

The challenge of Intellectual Revolution was diverse, it


includes different perspective of great scientists and
philosophers like, Claudius Ptolemy, Nicolaus
Copernicus, Charles Darwin and Sigmund Freud.

Claudius Ptolemy was a Greek mathematician,
astronomer, geographer and astrologer.

He discovers that the Earth was the center of the


universe. The word for earth in Greek is “geo” so
later his ideas is called “geocentric theory”

An astrolabe is a two-dimensional model


of the celestial sphere. The name has its
origins from the Greek words astron and
lambanien meaning "the one who catches
the heavenly bodies”. An astrolabe is an
instrument that once was the most used,
multipurpose astronomical instrument.

But from the late 16th century onward, it was
gradually superseded by the heliocentric model of
Nicolaus Copernicus , a Polish astronomer who put
forth the theory that the Sun is at rest near the
center of the Universe, and that the Earth, spinning
on its axis once daily, revolves annually around the
Sun.

This is called the heliocentric, or Sun-centered,

After some time, many supported the works of
Copernicus that finally helped convince people
and changed their knowledge and perception of
the world and it was the beginning of what they
called as the “birth of modern astronomy”.

It was started with the concept of Charles Robert
Darwin also known as the “Father of Evolution”,
an English naturalist, geologist, biologist and
author.

He is known for his evolution by natural selection


and was formulated in his book entitled “On The
Origin of Species “in 1859.

Theory of evolution has two main points
• All life on earth is connected and related to each other
• The diversity of life came about because of the
modification in population that were driven by natural
selection.

Natural selection, is often described as “Survival of The


Fittest”, where fittest refers to the ability to survive and
reproduce.
FREUDIAN
REVOLUTION

Influential thinker of the early twentieth century,


Sigmund Freud, known to be the “Father of
Psychoanalysis”, a physiologist, medical doctor,

Psychology defined as the study of the mind


and behavior.

Psychoanalysis. Revolutionary theory developed by
Sigmund Freud. A set of therapeutic techniques that centered
on talk therapy that involved the use of strategies such as
transference, free association and dream interpretation.
