THE RIGHT TO
BEAR ARMS

 ORIGIN, WHO DOES IT AFFECT
AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT
The origin of this amendment was to protect colonists from the invading
British soldiers more than two centuries ago.
Nowadays it affects all the US citizens since you can use it for self-defense,
liberty, and property.
The importance of the second amendment is the ability to rebel against a
tyrannical government. It also gives citizens the right to protect themselves,
without restrictions from the government. The Second Amendment also
allows us to protect ourselves from foreign and domestic attacks, if the
government won't.
I decided to focus about one of the main problems the US have to face with the right to bear arms. This years,
school shootings have increased a lot compared to the past.
Where I want to get with this is that most shootings have been carried out by a student. Which is probably an
under aged and got the guns from their own house.
PROPOSED AMENDMEND
AND BENEFIT
My proposal is to remove the 2nd amendment and prohibit the sale and
possession of guns unless the person has a license.
Like Marko Ceperkovic once said ''The change of the amendment in
terms of availability of weapons, and who has the right to possess them,
would create a safer society and lower the gun homicide rate in the U.S.
— a figure that currently makes the U.S. the highest in the world.‘’
This amendment I’m proposing is not going to work at the 100% but at
least it wouldn’t be that easy for minors to have access to guns.
ARGUMENTS AGAINST
I think one of the arguments against mine could be that repealing
the 2nd amendment, gun owners that lose their guns will try to buy
them off somebody else illegally. Plus, it would create even more
killing: because someone could even kill people for it.
Not all the people would try to do this and of course if they do, they
will make sure the arms are hidden so the government can’t find it.
And of course, if someone wants a gun, they will get it but at least
not a minor, or not in an easy way.
