Title: Finding the
Height of the Bell
Tower
Objectives of
Project
The objective of this project is to measure
using a clinometer and trigonometry. We
will be measuring the height of the bell
tower.
Word Problem
The principal, Mrs. Tillet, lost the
measurements of the bell tower at St.
Catherine Academy. There is a slight
modification that the tower needs.
So, the students were all asked to
take measurements to tell the height
of the bell tower and submit the
information to her as soon as
possible.
Solving Strategy

Steps to Solving the problem:

• Use the clinometer to measure the angle by
pointing it to the top of the tower.
• Then measure from eye level to the bell tower
which will give the adjacent.
• Measure the height of the person from eye level to
the ground.
• Using trigonometry, find the opposite and add it to
the height of the person from eye level which will
give the answer.

Conclusion

According to the measurements and math

solutions, the height of the bell tower is
25.83. Trigonometry is an efficient way of
finding the most accurate measurements.
However, the answer may be slightly
different from the actual value it is useful to
use trigonometry.

Modern techniques has helped us to

develop our way of how we do things.
Something simple as a clinometer was used
to find the height of the bell tower.
