An Introduction to Geometry
Objective:
• The learner represents point, line and
plane using concrete and pictorial models
(M7GE-IIIa-1)
San Juanico Bridge
Questions:
• What did the architect use in designing the bridge?

• What did he consider in creating attractive patterns?

• What you’ve cited are application of Geometry. What is

Geometry?
IS GEOMETRY
IMPORTANT IN
OUR LIFE?
WHY AND WHY NOT?
POINT
A point in Geometry is a location. It has
no size, no width, no length and no depth.
A point shown by a dot.
Examples of Point

LINE
A line is defined as a line of points
that extends infinitely in two
directions. It has one dimension and
length. Points that are on the same
line are called collinear points.
Examples of Line

STAIRS RULER
PLANE
A plane may be considered as an infinite
set of points forming a connected flat
surface extending infinitely far in all
directions. A plane has infinite length,
infinite width, and zero height (or
thickness)
