SPACE
ACTIVITIES THAT INVOLVE SPACE IN MUSIC

Spaces in music typically evokes a sense of spatial imagery and calm emotions. Spatial music can also
mean audio technologies that bring 360-degree effects to video calls, movies and remixed music.
Example of activities that involve space in music is having students listen to music 3D or 8D music.

3D or 8D music is a brand-new way to mix music that provides a more spatial experience than a standard
stereo mix.

Another genre of music that involves space in it is naturalistic music such as rains, waterfalls or any
natural surroundings. Listening to such music evokes calm emotions within the listeners while also
allowing them to be imaginative.
COLOUR
ACTIVITIES THAT INVOLVE COLOUR IN MUSIC
● In the world of music, the metaphor “the color of music” has been vastly used to describe
characteristics of sound such as tone quality, pitch, and timbre.
● Tone color (timbre) = tone quality
● Generally speaking, tone color is what allows a listener to identify a sound as being produced by a
specific instrument and to differentiate between instruments of the same type.
● As an example, think about the sounds of a flute and a trombone playing the same note or pitch.
