ADVANTAGES OF TEARCHERS DESIGNING THEIR ELT MATERIAL

• 1.CONTEXTUALIZATION (Students’ context, reality, heterogeinity).


• 2. INDIVIDUAL NEEDS (students’ real needs and level)
• 3.PERSONALISATION (Personal teaching touch, students’ interests and learning styles)
• 4.TIMELINESS (Up-to-date relevant and hight interest topics and task for local or international events)
DISADVANTAGES OF TEACHERS’ DESIGNING THEIR OWM
MATERIALS

• 1. ORGANIZATION (Poorly focus activities lacking direction).


• 2. QUALITY (They may contain errors, be poorly constructed, lack clarity in layout and print and lack
durability, and lack of clear instructions.)
• 3. TIME (Sometimes is not viable at least not all the time).
FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHEN DESIGNING MATERIALS

• 1. Learners (Need analysis, Knowing learners, students’ experiences, lide and educational, learning
preferences, purposes for learning English)
• 2. Curriculum
• 3. The curriculum and the context (Impact on decisions and materials).
• 4. Resources and facilities (Be realistic about the institutions resources).
• 5. Personal confidence and competence. (Teacher’s level of teaching experience, skills, creativity,
understanding of materials design principles).
• 6. Copyright compliance (Teachers must be aware of copy rights laws and restritions).
