THE DEFINTION OF NARRATIVE TEXT

 Narrative text is a story with complication or problematic events and


it tries to find the resolutions to solve the problems. An important
part of narrative text is the narrative mode, the set of methods used
to communicate the narrative through a process narration.
THE PURPOSE OF NARRATIVE TEXT

 The purpose of narrative text is to entertain the reader with the story which can be
fiction or non-fiction. Narrative relationship with the reality experiences, imaginary, or
the event intricate that aim to the crisis that is finally find resolution. For example:
folktale, legend, fable, etc.
C. GENERIC STRUCTURES OF NARRATIVE
TEXT
1) Orientation

Sets the scene: where and when the story happened and introduces the
participants of the story: who and what is involved in the story.

2) Complication

Tells the beginning of the problems which leads to the crisis (climax) of
the main participants.

3) Resolution

The problem (the crisis) is resolved, either in a happy ending or in a sad


(tragic) ending

4) Re-orientation/Coda

This is a closing remark to the story and it is optional. It consists  of  a 


moral  lesson,  advice  or  teaching  from  the writer

 The Legend of Rainbow. Now let's read a beautiful, heart breaking love story,
the legend of rainbow.

 The Fox and The Grapes


 One afternoon a fox was walking through the forest and spotted a bunch of grapes hanging
from over a lofty branch. Just the thing to quench my thirst, he thought.Taking a few steps
back, the fox jumped and just missed the hanging grapes. Again the fox took a few paces
back and he tried to reach them but still failed.Finally, giving up, the fox turned up his
nose and said, "They're probably sour anyway," and proceeded to walk away

CONCLUSION

 In a narrative text, the conclusion is where conflicts are resolved in one


way or another and the action of the story comes to an end.
