CONCEPT OF HERO

Day 2
Lesson Outcomes:
The students will be able to …

1.Trace the Filipino concept of hero/bayani through times;


2.Analyze the criteria set by the nation in recognizing heroes; and
3.Assess the heroism of Rizal using the definitions and criteria of
heroes.
Instructions: Using the Fryer’s Model, write down your definition of a Hero, its characteristics, and
provide example of an act of heroism done by any ordinary citizen in your community.

Groupings
1. In your respective groups, discuss the following readings for 10
minutes.
2. After the said readings, answer the following guide questions:
• What are the differences of the Western concept of Hero
and Filipino concept of Bayani in culture and history?
• What are the criteria in recognizing heroes? Explain their
meaning.
• What are the steps done by the colonial and post-colonial
Philippines in promoting the heroism of Rizal?
ASSESSMENT #1

1. Now that the nature of the concept of “hero” has been clarified so as not to be a
posthumous award, each group will present a hero from the list.
2. The group will portray the qualifications of their hero through: jingle, slogan,
role playing, poem, tableau and video (20 minutes).
3. Each group will be given 3-5 minutes to present.
4. Each group will be rated based on the rubric standards.
5. Presentation will be on Nov. 11, 2022 Friday based on the agreed time from
class.
