WHAT IS ASSESSMENT?
• Assessment in education refers to the wide variety of methods
or tools that educators use to evaluate, measure
and document the academic readiness of students.
 Diagnostic Assessment
 Is a type of assessment which examines what a students
knows and can do prior to a learning being implemented.
 Type of assessment given before instruction. it aims to
identify the strength and weakness of the students
regarding the topic to be discussed.

• Diagnostic test result is recorded but not graded.
 Placement Assessment
 This assessment are used to ‘place’ students into a course,
course level or academic program.
 is concerned with entry performance of student, the
purpose of placement evaluation is to determined the
prerequisite skills, degree of mastery of the course
objectives and the best mode of learning.
