Personal Protective Equipment

(PPE) - refers to items typically

worn by a worker to provide
protection from recognized
hazard.
PPE can include items such as
safety helmets, gloves, eye
protection, safety footwear, safety
harnesses
Depending on the job task to be
performed, PPE for the electric power
industry generally includes
safety glasses, face shields, hard hats,
safety shoes, insulating (rubber) gloves
with leather protectors.
ELECTRICAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Electrical PPE is worn to prevent exposure to

electrical hazards.
Safety shoe is a durable boot or shoe that has
protective reinforcement in the toe which protects
the foot from falling objects or compression.
Hard hat is a type of helmet predominantly used
in workplace environments such as industrial or
construction sites to protect the head from injury
due to falling objects, impact with other objects,
debris, rain, and electric shock.
Safety Gloves are worn to cover and protect
hands and wrists from potential hazards in
domestic, work site and commercial
environments. Constructed from various
materials and embedded with
protective qualities, safety gloves are
designed to prevent serious injuries such as
cuts, splinters and burns.
Goggles, or safety glasses, are forms of
protective eyewear that usually enclose or protect the
area surrounding the eye in order to prevent particulates,
water or chemicals from striking the eyes. They are used
in chemistry laboratories and in woodworking. Goggles
are often worn when using power tools such as drills or
chainsaws to prevent flying particles from damaging the
eyes.
Safety harness is a form of protective
equipment designed to protect a person,
animal, or object from injury or damage.
The harness is an attachment between a
stationary and non-stationary object and
is usually fabricated from rope, cable or
webbing and locking hardware.
