India is a land of cultures, across all these there have been various cultural practices that were based on chemical
reactions in our daily lives. For instance, your mothers know how much lemon/citric acid/ vinegar is to be added to
sour milk to prepare cheese. Document a few chemical reactions used across cultures. You can prepare a ppt report
or project and present it to the class.

 In Bihar, during Chhat Puja , people always set curd for performing their rituals.
 Science behind this: Setting of a curd is an example of chemical change. In this chemical reaction, the
milk is turned to curd by a bacteria 🦠 called Lactobacillus.
Diwali is a Hindu festival. In the evening, people burn candles in their houses.
Science behind this: Burning of a candle is combustion which is a chemical reaction.
But remember melting of a wax is a physical change.
 You all must have tasted panner tika. But to make panner your mom add lemon juice
into the milk. The lemon juice reacts with the milk to make a new substance from
which you get your paneer.

 It is believed that your wish comes true when you throw a coin in a fountain.
 Science behind this: Studies says that the metal coins reacts with in the water
when left for a long time. This in turn would near the water .
