What is renewable energy?
• Energy that is collected from renewable
resources that are naturally replenished on a
human timescale.
• Includes sources such as sunlight, wind, the
movement of water, geothermal heat, etc.
• Most renewable energy sources are sustainable,
some are not.
Wind energy:
• The kinetic energy of air moving through the
Earth's atmosphere.
• A form of indirect solar energy.
• One of the oldest ways to get energy from the
natural environment and has been known since
ancient times.
• Advantages: • Disadvantages:
- Clean source - Wind reliability
- Cost effective - Threaten wildlife
- Renewable source - Setup cost
Tidal energy
• Tidal Stream Generator:
- Makes use of the kinetic energy of moving water to power
turbines, in a similar way to wind turbines that use wind to power
turbines.
• Tidal Barrage:
- Tidal barrages make use of the potential energy in the difference in
height between high and low tides.
• Advantages:
- Clean fuel source.
- Domestic source of energy.
• Disadvantages:
- Have effects on marine life:
+ The turbines can accidentally kill swimming sea.
+ Some fish may no longer utilize the area.
+ Affecting a large ecosystem that depends on tidal
flats.

The end of wave energy:
• As of 2022, wave energy is not widely used
Solar energy is…

Radiant light & heat from the Sun Electricity Transmit electricity to your home
● An inverter:

Converts direct current (DC) electricity

-> produce the Alternating current ( the electrical

grid uses)

● Solar ammeter
measure solar radiation flux density
benefits Harm:
Solar energy is clean - Solar panel cant decompose
energy: => Environmental pollution
- Inexhaustible - Expensive

- Reduce pollution

- Reduce global warming
