Rewa is a city in north-eastern part of  Madhya Pradesh  state in 
India. It is the administrative center of  Rewa District  and  Rewa
Division. The city lies about 420 kilo-metres north-east of the state
capital  Bhopal  and 230 kilo-metres north of the city of Jabalpur.
The maximum length of Rewa district is 125 km from east to west
and the length of Rewa from north to south is 96 km. This area is
surrounded by Kenmore hills in the south direction and
Vindhyachal ranges pass through the middle of the district.

 As of 2011, Rewa had a population of about 2,35,654 out of
which 1,24,012 are males and 1,11,642 are females. Rewa has an
average literacy rate of 86.31%, male literacy is 91.67%, and

1) Strategic location

Located right at the north-eastern part of Madhya Pradesh, the


district is bounded on the north by Allahabad and Mirzapur
districts of Uttar Pradesh, on the east and southeast by  Sidhi, on
the south by  Shahdol and on the west by Satna.

2) Seamless connectivity
 
Rail/Train - Rewa is connected to Satna through a 50 km Rewa-Satna Rail Line. Satna falls on the
Mumbai Howrah main line via Prayagraj. For state capital Bhopal and National capital Delhi there is
daily train service from Rewa. Rewa Jabalpur intercity is also a good train for commuting between
these two cities within single day. The District shall soon be connected to Mirzapur and Singrouli.
Road - Main city lies where NH30 and  NH39 interact with each other. It is connected with Jabalpur
and Nagpur on one side and Prayagraj, Varanasi on the other side by four lane national highway.
Sidhi and Shahdol districts are connected by two lane road. Daily bus service is available for major
cities like Nagpur, Bhopal, Indore, Raipur etc.
Air – Recently Govt. announced 16 new airports in five states of India. Rewa is one of them.
Construction of Rewa Airport is in full swing and is expected to be ready by year end. Rewa
already has an air strip which is being converted into airport. Presently closest Airport to Rewa is
in Prayagraj  which is 130 kilometers away and has flights to major destinations such as Delhi,
Bangaluru, Mumbai,Pune, Kolkata etc. Other nearest airport is at Khajuraho.
The Jal Marg Vikas Project, or the project for Capacity Augmentation of National Waterway-1 on
the Ganga-Bhagirathi-Hooghly river systems, spans the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand
and West Bengal. The Jal Marg Vikas Project intends to augment the freight-carrying capacity and
facilitate movement of vessels with more than 1,500 tonne capacity along a 1,620 km stretch
from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to Haldia in West Bengal.

1.White Tiger Safari:- Maharaja Martand Singh Judeo White Tiger Safari and Zoo is
located in Mukundpur of Satna district of Rewa division.The main attraction at the zoo is
the White Tiger Safari in which people get the chance to see the revered White Tigers.
Along with the White Tiger the zoo also houses 40 different endangered species and 60 plus
species of non endangered species within its premises.
History Of White Tiger In Rewa
In 1951, Maharaja Martand Singh spotted a white tiger cub in Rewa, a village in Madhya
Pradesh for the first time. The Maharaja domesticated the male cub and named him Mohan.
In fact, Rewa palace records from the first half of the 20th century mention as many as 8
white tiger sightings.

2. Purwa WaterFall
The Falls are 200 feet high (nearly 67 m) and present one heck of a robust view.
The falls are intense and an enormous volume of water falls every second. The
Falls are on River Toans, descending the cliff of Rewa Plateau. However, the
Falls gain or lose their majesty with season and are best to visit when the rains
are in full swing.

3. Keoti WaterFall
For a pleasant time with family and friends in Rewa, visit the Keoti Waterfall. It
is the 24th highest waterfalls in India and is a really popular tourist
destination .The view from the falls during sunset and sunrise is something one
shouldn’t miss during the trip. A great way to have some intimate time with
loved ones. Keoti Waterfall is a place in Rewa that will blend you with the locals
as it is usually crowded with people be it tourists or the localities.

4.Piyavan, Ghanouchi Dham
Ghinouchi Dham, popularly known as Piavan. This incomparable historical, natural and
religious tourist place is in the Bardaha Valley of Sirmaur, 42 km from Rewa district of
Madhya Pradesh. Amidst the unique landscape of nature, this Dham is surrounded by
picturesque plains of nature 200 feet below the earth and about 800 feet wide. Here the
white water of the natural water falls for 12 months continuously for Lord Bholenath.
Which is exciting to watch.

The special thing here that makes it special is the confluence of two amazing waterfalls
200 feet below the earth. Which can be enjoyed between July to September. Along with
this, there are also ancient rock paintings and ancient rock paintings carved in the hills
here. Prehistoric rock paintings carved in the rocks, which also tell the glory story of the
region. Two amazing spiral rocks are amazing in themselves. Apart from this, the divine
divine statue of Maa Parvati is also present.

5.Bahuti Water-Fall
Bahuti is the highest waterfall in Madhya Pradesh. It is on the river Sellar as it
rushes down the edge of the Valley of Mauganj to join the Bihad River, which is a
tributary of Tamsa or Tons River. It is near Chachai Falls. It has a height of 198
metres (650 ft).

The Bahuti Falls is an example of a nick point caused by rejuvenation. Knick


point, also called a nick point or simply nick, represents breaks in slopes in the
longitudinal profile of a river caused by rejuvenation. The break in channel
gradient allows water to fall vertically giving rise to a waterfall

6.Deur Kothar:-
This archaeological site has a great history to tell with the ancient Buddhist stupas that you will
find here. Discovered in the year 1982, these stupas are said to be about two thousand years old
and belonging to the Ashoka’s reign. You will find three large stupas carved out of clay bricks
and several small stupas out of 46 different stones.

Deur Kothar also has five thousand years old rocky caves which are definitely very intriguing in
their appearance. As an attempt to spread Buddhism in the Vindhyan region during the period of
Ashoka, the remains of Lord Buddha were distributed to create these stupas. Deur Kothar is an
archaeological site among the prestigious Rewa tourist places where followers of Buddhism have
build stupas after this site was found.

7.Chachai Waterfall:-
Chachai falls are more than 130 meters in height and are situated on River Bihad, near
Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. These falls are the second highest waterfalls in Madhya Pradesh
and is counted amongst one of the highest single-drop waterfalls in India. It was once
praised by former Indian Prime Minister Sh. Jawahar Lal Nehru for its breathtaking
charisma and beauty. However, that time is long gone as a river diversion has been
constructed on this river, which splits all of the water of Bihad river in two halves, one for
generation of Electricity at Toans Hydroelectric Power Plant and another half for irrigation
in nearby villages, leaves absolutely no water for the waterfalls. The coarse of the river has
been changed and since then, the waterfalls are dry, which flood once during the rainy
season when excess water is discharged from the dam.

8.Rewa Fort:-
It is the main tourist attractions in Rewa.Behind it there are two rivers which
provide the scenic beauty to the fort. The main gate of the fort is a good example
of Indian architecture. It also provides accommodations to tourists. It have also
houses a restaurant and a museum. The main sites to visit here are the canon,
royal silver throne, museum hall’s chandelier, arms gallery and the white tiger
gallery.

9.Govindgarh Palace and Lake:-
Govindgarh, the summer capital of Mahraja Rewa, is about 18 km from Rewa in
Madhya Pradesh, India. The Rewa, with an area of about 13,000 m², was the
largest princely state in the Bagelkhand Agency and the second largest in Central
India Agency. The British political agent for Bagelkhand resided at Satna, on the
East Indian railway. The Bagelkhand Agency was dissolved in 1933 and Rewa
was placed under the authority of the Indore Residency.
