SALMONELLA

TYPHOSA

CANO, JERICA MAE

BSN 1-C
INTRODUCTION:

 Salmonella Typhi (S. Typhi) is a type of bacteria that can infect both
the intestine and the bloodstream. Typhoid fever is the name for the
illness. S. The bacteria that cause paratyphi induce a similar but
milder sickness with the same name. In general, paratyphoid lasts
less time than typhoid. S. S. Typhi and Typhi Paratyphi is prevalent in
many impoverished nations with inadequate sewage and water
treatment facilities. The majority of cases recorded in British
Columbia are among visitors returning from those places.
NAME OF MICROORGANISM OR PARASITE:

• Salmonella species are facultative intracellular parasites that may

invade, survive, and grow in a variety of eukaryotic cell types,
including epithelial and phagocytic cells. Both bacterial and host cell
products are involved in these activities, which are necessary for
virulence.
RESERVIOR:

• Because poultry and livestock are the main reservoirs for human
Salmonella infection, lowering the quantity of Salmonella present in
these species will significantly minimize human exposure
PORTAL OF ENTRY/ PORTAL OF EXIT:

• Salmonella Typhi is most commonly seen in feces, while shedding in

urine has also been observed. During and after both clinical and
subclinical acute infections, Salmonella Typhi can be found in the stool
or urine.
MODE OF TRANSMISSION:

• Salmonella Typhi transmission is by the fecal–oral route. Water and

food contaminated by human feces are the major sources (defined as
the places from which the agent is transferred to a host) of Salmonella
Typhi.
HOW THE ORGANISM PRODUCE THE
DISEASE:

• What are salmonella infections and how do you get them? Salmonella
is a microorganism that causes food poisoning. Salmonella is a
bacterial group that can cause human diarrhea. Salmonella bacteria
come in a variety of forms.
CLASSIFICATION OF THE INFECTIONS
DISEASE:

• Salmonella Typhi or Salmonella Paratyphi can proliferate and

disseminate into the bloodstream, resulting in typhoid fever or
paratyphoid fever.
STAGES OF THE DISEASE:

• Salmonella typhi is a bacillus that is gram-negative. Incubation, active

invasion (dissemination throughout the lymphoreticular system),
fastigium, and lysis are the basic clinicopathological phases of typhoid
illness.
PLACES/ COUNTRIES WHRE
MICROORGANISM IN FOUND:

• Salmonella bacteria are found in a wide range of animals, both

domestic and wild. They're common in food animals like chickens, pigs,
and cattle, as well as pets like cats, dogs, birds, and reptiles like turtles.
PREVENTION:

 Wash your hands.

 Keep your food preparation areas clean.
 Avoid unpasteurized foods.
 Cook and store your food at the appropriate temperatures.
 Be careful when handling animals.
 Use caution when swimming.
 Do you suspect that you have a foodborne or waterborne illness?
TREATMENT:

 Ciprofloxacin (Cipro). In the United States, doctors often prescribe

this for adults who aren't pregnant. ...
 Azithromycin (Zithromax). ...
 Ceftriaxone.
