History of

airlines
The airline is a company that provides air transportation services for
passengers and freight. Airlines use aircraft to provide these services
and may form partnerships or alliances with other airlines for
codeshare agreements. Generally, airlines are recognized by an air
operating certificate or license issued by the state aviation authority.

Airlines vary in size, from small domestic airlines to full-service

international airlines. Airline services can be categorized as
intercontinental, domestic, regional or international, and can be
operated as scheduled services or charters. Currently the largest
airline is the American Airlines Group.
