Chapter 4
Chapter 3 Review:
The next day, Jim was busy because he had to finish the arrangements of the funeral and the
visits of the neighbors. Jim saw an old blind man standing next to the inn. The man seemed to be
blind because he was tapping with a stick. He wore a green shade over his eyes and wore an old
sea cloak that covered most of his face. The blind man came to give the Captain something in
his hand. When the captain read the paper, He jumped out of his seat when he opened his hand
and looked into it. He was struggling to breathe, and then he swayed for a moment and fell from
his face down on the floor. When Jim read the paper, his eyes were out on stalks and he looked
at the clock, it was six o’clock. He told his mom and they decided to escape before the blind
man and his friends returned. When the mother opened the lock, the smell of tobacco and tar
filled the room. There were two pistols, a pipe, tobacco, and an old clock. There were some
papers and a bag of gold coins.

Summary:
Jim and his mom tried to escape with the Captain’s money before the blind man and his men
came. The men came then ran out to the road angrily because when they broke into the inn, they
couldn’t find the Flint’s papers. One of the blind man’s men shouted to announce the Captain
Bill’s death, and then they went out to the road to find Jim and his mom. The blind went after
the men who had left him alone. He tried to follow them, but he turned the wrong way. He went
under the horse’s feet with a wild cry, he was dead. Captain Dance was the law officer of the
nearby town. He came to the Admiral Benbow inn because he had heard reports of a pirate ship.
He suggested going to Dr. Livesey or Squire Trelawney who was the local judge, to tell them
what Jim knew. Dr. Livesey opened the cloth; he found a small book and a paper. The book gave
a list of all the money Flint had stolen from different ships. The paper was a map of an island
that Flint had written on “Most of the treasure is here”. They decided to travel to the Treasure
Island to find the treasure of Captain Flint.
