Internet Security Issues
 Introduction
 While the internet offers various advantages and opportunities, it also
presents various risks.
 Internet security can be defined as security for activities made over
the internet.
e.g. browsing security, security of data entered on a web form.
Why we need Internet Security?
 To keep intruders away.
 To prevent our personal data.

 Phishing
• Use of fake communication,
such as an email.

• trick the receiver into carrying

out the instructions such as
giving private information.
Pharming
• send user to fake website instead
of the real one which looks almost
the same to the real website. 

• Through DNS server( converts

domain name to IP address)
Man in the Middle:
• form of active wiretapping.

• attacker insert himself between two

users to steal or alter data exchanging
between them without being
recognized.
 Trojan Horse
• program looks legitimate and harmless, but contain viruses.

• Usually enters device through email

Spyware:
• software that secretly monitors user’s behavior.

• Advertisers can use spyware to target specific advertisements

to your tastes.

 Safety Measures:
•Backup files and store in different locations.
•Don’t open any unknown emails or the websites.
•Don’t download an unknown or suspicious attachment or pirated software.
•Avoid pop-up window from fake companies
•Use trusted internet service.
•Use VPN, it encrypts data before transfer.
