Informational/ Factual
Texts
Informational texts are texts that provide
factual information to the readers. It uses
different patterns to organize the ideas in the
text. These patterns are called text structures.
Consequently, these text structures are mainly
used for a particular purpose. They tell how
the information in a text are organized.
Remember that it is important to know how a
text is organized because this will enable you
to understand the purpose of the given
information and understand also how these
information are linked together to create a
meaningful content of the text. The following
are the five (5) different types of
informational/factual text or text structure that
we will focus on:
