o worked mainly in France.
Amedeo was born in 1884, in
livorno , kingdom of itali.
Modigliani had poor health and
was often ill. He died of
tuberculosis at the age of 35.
He is known for portraits and nudes in a
modern style characterized by a surreal
elongation of faces, necks, and figures
In 1918, Amadeo Modigliani met a 19 year old student, Jeanne
Hebitern, who became the muse of the painter
Amadeo painted a
portrait of Jeanne at
the first meeting and
told his closest friend,
the sculptor Bracuzzi:
"I met a woman who
often dreamed of me,
I think I found my
true love."
Jeanne's parents did not like Amadeo as a son-in-law and
opposed their relationship.Despite her parents' opposition, she
moved in with him. On November 29, 1918, they had a
daughter.Modigliani's paintings decorated various exhibitions and
everything was going well until he died of tuberculosis in January
1920.At the time of his death, Jeanne was pregnant with her
second child, however, as it is known, she could not bear
Modigliani's death, jumped from the window and died on the spot.
Amadeo Modigliani was distinguished by his special style. His
paintings are always easy to recognize because of the
disproportionality of the human body and the refined, warm
color palette. As always, he was appreciated more after his
death.. and today he is a recognized and popular artist...
