    • Also knows as simple sentence.
    A sentence has two parts
    • Subject
    • Predicate

    Subject
    • the one being talked about in the sentence
    • may be a noun or a pronoun
    • answers the questions what or who
    simple subject - consists of only the main word in the
    subject
    complete subject - includes the main noun as well as all
    of its modifiers

    Predicate
    • tells something about the subject
    • the part of the sentence that contains the action/verb

    simple predicate - the main verb


    complete predicate - includes the main verb as well as
    other additional modifiers such as prepositional phrases,
    etc.
