Discuss the benefits of a traffic light system?
What happens when there is a power cut?

• Give specific examples :


• The traffic lights at the intersection of Hope road and Lady Musgrave or half
way Tree.

Traffic Lights as an Analogy for the
Human Conscience
• Use the traffic light system as an analogy for
how God’s Law works to guide and protect
people (example Ten Commandments)
• Extend this analogy to the human conscience
as it guides the individual and protects us from
harming ourselves and each other.

• There are some actions that wrong and our
conscience warns us to stop [Red Light]
• Students state five actions that are clearly
wrong
• There are many actions that wrong and our
conscience tells us its ok [Green Light]
• Students state five actions that are clearly
good to do!
Traffic Lights as a Metaphor for the
Human Conscience
• There are a few actions that our consciences will warn
us that it is a dangerous path to take even as the
danger is not immediately clear.

• The amber light indicates we are to be extremely


cautious and prepare to stop what we are doing
• Introduce concept of the slippery slope

• Students should identify five situations that can be


harmful but not clearly wrong [Drinking alcohol after
you have passed the age of 18 years.]

Sources of Christian Morality
• Identify the main sources of Christian Morality – (Scriptures, Tradition
and Magisterium).

• Identify where the Ten Commandments are found in the Bible

• Explain how the Ten Commandments guides moral decision making

• Explain that they are basic moral code and the guide for people to live
in right relationships with one another and with God.

• The Golden Rule -Do for others just what you want them to do for
you. [ Luke 6:31]
