Power, Function and Duties:


y Conduct licensure exam for nurses y Issue, suspend or revoke COR y Monitor and enforce quality standards of nursing

practice y Ensure quality nursing education y Conduct hearings and investigation y Promulgate a code of ethics y Recognize nursing specialty organizations y Prescribe, adopt, issue and promulgate guidelines, regulation, measures and decisions

Removal or Suspension of a member: (ICU)


I incompetence or continuous neglect of duty C Commission/tolerance of irregularities in the NLE U Unprofessional, immoral, dishonourable conduct

Requirements upon qualification: (IIN)


I immediately resign from teaching position/review I immediately resign from private/government institution N not have pecuniary interest in or administrative supervision in any institution offering BSN/review

EXAMINATION AND REGISTRSTION

Ratings:

rating of not below 60% in any subject yIf above 75% but with a subject below 60%, must repeat the subject with a rating above 75%

REQUIREMENTS FOR RE-ISSUANCE OF REVOKED CERTIFICATE OR REPLACEMENT OF LOSS CERTIFICATE y Expiration of maximum of four years from date of revocation y Cause of revocation has disappeared or has been corrected y Request is to replace lost, destroyed or mutilated certificate/license y Proper application y Payment of required fees

NURSING EDUCATION
Inactive nurses for a period of five consecutive years can return to practice after one month didactic training and three months of practicum. The Board shall accredit hospitals to conduct said training.

FACULTY NURSING
Qualifications: (HARM) (sec. 27)
y H- holder of Master s degree in

Nursing/Education/allied health sciences y A - at least one year experience y R- registered nurse y M- member with good standing in the accredited professional organization

DEANS

nursing

SCOPE OF NURSING PRACTICE


y Provide nursing care: covering the different

stages of life (from conception to old age) y Promotion of health y Prevention of illness y Initiate and perform nursing services in any health care setting y Collaborate with other health care providers for the preventive, curative, and rehabilitative aspects of care.

DUTIES OF NURSES
y Do utilize nursing process in providing nursing

care y Undertake nursing and health human resource development training and research y Teach, guide, supervise nursing students y Interrelationship or linkage with the community resources and health care team y Educate individual, family, and community y Strict or duty-bound adherence to the Code of Ethics

QUALIFICATIONS OF NURSING ADMINISTRATORS


y Supervisory of Managerial positions y Qualifications:
y RN in the Philippines y At least two years experience in nursing

administration y With at least nine units in management and administration y Member of good standing of accredited professional organization of nurses

y Chief nurse or director


y Same with supervisors y At least five years of experience in a

supervisory or managerial position y Master s degree in nursing y Chief nurse for primary hospital y Two years experience in general nursing service administration y Nine units management and administration course

Chief nurse in public health agencies y Master s degree in public health/ CHN be given priority Chief nurse in military hospitals y Master s degree in nursing and completion of the general staff course

COMPREHENSIVE NURSING SPECIALTY PROGRAM
