Race track nanomagnetic memory

Quick Intro
1. In this world there is a time to time improvement in the electronics field. One such improvement in this field is"RACE TRACK NANOMAGNETIC MEMORY replacing the present day solid state HARD DISK DRIVES and FLASHMEMORIES. 2. This can bring a new revolution with its extraordinary

features like: Great improvement in storage capacity of the system when compare to the normal HDD and FLASH memories . Decrease in the cost per GB of memory

This new class of memory named "racetrack" is internally built with a u-shaped nanomagnetic wire through which a polarized electric current is made to slide or race" through tiny magnetic patterns around the nanowire "track," where the device can read and write data in less than a nanosecond.

Before going to know about how this memory works lets know about

SPINTRONICS

Spintronics (Putting electronics in a spin)

the storage of bits generated by the magnetic spin of electrons rather than their charge .

Spintronics harnesses the Spintronics spin of sub-atomic particles used in MRAM devices

Inside the hard drive

POLARISED CURRENT: It is the current with charge particles spinning only one sense which in-turn produce Magnetic field

Construction:

It consists of a Nano magnetic material which is in U-shape. It consists of two tracks.

 First track: Polarized current

passes through it Second track: For storing the domain wall pattern

How it works:-

Applications:

1. Significant role in high density data storage, microelectronics, and Bio-medical applications etc. 2. This project will bring together expertises in several different disciplines and will carry out collaborative research area . 3.Particularly attractive for memory storage. An mp3 player can store 3500 movies and 500000 songs. 4.Applications in magnetic sensors. 5.Potenially used in quantum computing where electron spin would represent a bit (called qubit ) of information.

Advantages: The promise of racetrack memory - for example, the ability to carry massive amounts of information in your pocket - could unleash creativity leading to devices and applications that nobody has imagined yet."
Due to this extraordinary features it replaces the present flash and hard

disk memory Its cheaper compared to other memory devices existing today . As there are no moving parts the power consumption is less when compared to other devices which comprises of movable parts. The life time of device is considerably very long when compared to other devices Massless motion
