Confounding Variable

A confounding variable is an extraneous variable that is related to the independent variable of a study and also affects the dependent variable. Extraneous variables are not the independent variable being studied but could influence the experiment's outcome. Confounding variables can obscure the relationship between the independent and dependent variables.
