representation of an object, function, or process,
e.g. the letter or letters standing for a chemical
element or a character in musical notation.

A linear flowchart is used to show the sequential order of
events in a process. It starts with the start state and ends
with the end state. The arrows show the order in which
things happen. Linear flowchart is a common type of
flowchart that organizes the process in linear order.

Why is there a need to identify and
interpret symbols and technical drawing?
• To make the drawings easier to understand,
people use familiar symbols, perspectives,
units of measurement, notation systems,
visual styles, and page layout. Together, such
conventions constitute a visual language and
help to ensure that the drawing is
unambiguous and relatively easy to
understand.
