What is deterministic model?

Deterministic Model is a statistical tool used in sales forecasting in which marketing variables, such as price levels, advertising expenditures and sales promotion expenses, are used to predict market share or sales.

Definition
y Describing a variable or a system's output that can be predicted with certainty. y In a deterministic system a change in one

variable will have a predictable effect on another variable.

Introduction
Deterministic models is one of the good decisions making problems that brings about good outcomes. You get that what you expect; therefore, the outcome is deterministic (i.e., risk-free). This depends largely on how influential the uncontrollable factors are in determining the outcome of a decision.

Those who manage and control systems of men and equipment face the continuing problem of improving (e.g., optimizing) system performance. The problems are reducing the cost of operation level of service profit of current operations

The result is a clear-cut resource for understanding three cornerstones of deterministic operations research:
y modeling real-world problems as linear

optimization problem;
y designing the necessary algorithms to

solve these problems;

y using mathematical theory to justify

algorithmic development.

Advantage& Disadvantage
Advantage y The advantage of the deterministic model approach is that it helps to avoid selecting performance or injury variables arbitrarily and to provide the necessary theoretical basis for examining the relative importance of various factors that influence the outcome of a movement task.

Disadvantage y Several disadvantages of deterministic models, such as the use of subjective measures for the performance outcome.

Deterministic Operations Research

y It focuses on the design of solution

methods for both continuous and discrete linear optimization problems. y It is an excellent book for operations research of linear optimization courses at the upper-undergraduate and graduate levels.

y It also serves as an insightful reference for

individuals working in the fields of mathematics, engineering, computer science, and operations research who use and design algorithms to solve problem in their everyday work.

Conclusion
Thus the Deterministic models is one

of the most important decision making problems in which we get what we expect, therefore, the outcome is deterministic (i.e., riskfree).
