 WHAT IS PERFORMANCE?
•Is an artwork or art exhibition created through
executed by the artist or other participants . It maybe
witnessed live or through documentations ,
spontaneously developed or written , and is
traditionally presented to a public in a fine art context
in an interdisciplinary model.

• Also known as artistic action , it has been developed through

the years as a genre of its own in which art presented live. It
had an important and fundamental role in 20 th century.

 4 basic elements of Performance
1.Time
-The measurable period during which an action, process, or condition exist or continues.
2.Space
-The distance from other people or things that a person needs in order to remain
comfortable.
3. Body
-Where the artist is directly concerned with the body in the form of improvised or
choreographed actions, happenings and stage events.
4.Presence of the artist
-Artistic presence is the creative state of being where an artist closes the gap between his
her intentions and the impact of his or his result.

1.Acting
-The art or practice of representing a character on a stage
or before cameras.
