What is dating?
An activity engaged in by two mature
singles with the aim of assessing each
other’s suitability as future partners.
 The art of meeting and engaging in
some mutually agreed upon social
activities in public together as a
potential couple.
Who should date?
Matured men and ladies who have set
boundaries and understand how to
relate respectfully with other people
especially the opposite sex.
It is not meant for young boys and girls.
 2 Tim. 2:22
Who can I date?
2 Cor. 6:14
There are only two choices: either you
will follow God’s standards by
deliberate choice, or you will follow
the world’s standards by default.
Dating is meant for friendship-
building.
 What is Courtship?
The period when two people of the opposite sex agree to
get married and when they actually get married. It is
important to maximize your courtship period. Successful
courtship makes for a successful marriage. Foundation
laying period for marriage. Be intentional in laying a
solid foundation for your marriage during courtship.
Luke 14:28-29
Luk 14:28  For which of you, intending to build a tower,
sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he
have sufficient to finish it? 
Luk 14:29  Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and
is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, 
The length of the courtship is not
to be too prolonged.
A broken courtship is better than a
broken marriage.
Galatians 5:22
The fruits of the Holy Spirit must
be cultivated during courtship.
 What to do in courtship?
Talk – about place of worship
- About your visions, dreams or plans

- About finances
- How to build your spiritual life together
- Career & vocation
It is a season of getting to know each other better. If
you don’t like talking to your potential spouse in
courtship, you are not set for marriage.
Pray over everything you have talked about.
Keep your purity during courtship.
 What must I do during courtship?
1. Never move into your intended house and
start living together without parental and
pastoral blessing.
2. Never do anything that will make you defile
the marital bed through sexual activity.
The foundation you lay today will determine
the kind of marriage you enjoy tomorrow.
God will always give
you the spouse that
can match your
sexual capacity.
Jesus is Lord!
